CHAPTER AWARDS FOR SCHOOLS
Fran Clark Sportsmanship Award
Established in 1987 this award is presented in memory of Francis "Fran" Clark was a member of the Syracuse Chapter for over 20 years. During a game that he was officiating in 1985, he suffered a heart attack and did not survive. This award is given annually to the school within the Syracuse Chapter's jurisdiction that exemplifies superior sportsmanship. The school is honored at the Chapter's annual banquet and members of the coaching staff from the winning school are invited to attend the banquet and accept the plaque honoring their school's achievement.

SYRACUSE CHAPTER ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Established in 1993, this award is given in the memory of Joe Witowski and Tom Yanno, both of whom were educators and veteran football officials. The award is given annually to the senior football player with the highest un-weighted grade point average based upon the academic grades submitted by the school’s counselors from the schools officiated within the Syracuse chapter jurisdiction.

LARRY RUSSELL AWARD
Established in 1974 in memory of Larry Russell a long-time official and officer of the Syracuse Chapter. This award is awarded to an outstanding official for their service and dedication to the Syracuse Chapter. The candidate for this award must be approved by the executive committee.

NYS MERIT AWARDS
This award is presented to an official by the New York State Association of Certified Football Officials (NYSACFO) for their outstanding contributions to scholastic football on the recommendations of the chapter’s executive committee and per the award guidelines and the award guidelines of the State Association. This award will be presented in the “even” years in accordance with the NYSACFO requirements.

NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION, CNY CHAPTER OFFICIAL OF THE YEAR
This award is intended to provide recognition to an official who has shown outstanding and meritorious football officiating, in addition to
dedication, leadership, and service to football on and off the field. The selected official represents and supports the National Football Foundation's creed of athletics in concert with scholarship and civic leadership. These are officials that have been members of the Syracuse ChapteR at some point in their careers.
